The 20 yard container in Canton, GA
The 20 yard is the container we deliver most across Cherokee County, and for most renovation and roofing jobs it's the right call before you even start comparing sizes. It has the length to handle a real volume of debris while still landing on most residential driveways in Canton, Woodstock, and Holly Springs.
We see it on mid-size kitchen and bath remodels, roof replacements on average-size homes, and full-house cleanouts in Marietta and Alpharetta where a family is clearing out years of accumulation at once. It's also a common pick for contractors working multiple trades on one job site who need one container that can absorb it all.
Since it's our highest-turnover size, we keep several staged at the Canton yard off I-575, which usually means faster delivery windows across our whole 18-community service area.
What fits in a 20 yard dumpster
A 20 yard holds about 110 to 130 kitchen-size trash bags, or roughly 3-4 tons of mixed debris. That's enough for a full roof tear-off on an average-size home, a kitchen or bathroom gut, a whole-garage-and-basement cleanout, or a mid-size interior demo.
20 yard vs. 30 yard: which one do you need
The 20 yard covers most single-project jobs — one remodel, one roof, one big cleanout. If you're gutting an entire house, clearing a full estate, or running a new construction site where debris piles up over weeks, the 30 yard's added height and volume means fewer swaps and less risk of running out of room mid-project.
Capacity
What actually fits in a 20 yard container
Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what stops most loads.
| Material | How much fits |
|---|---|
| Full roof tear-off | asphalt shingles on an average 2,000-2,500 sq ft roof |
| Kitchen remodel | cabinets, countertops, flooring, and drywall from one kitchen |
| Bathroom gut | two full bathrooms, fixtures and all |
| Whole-house cleanout | a fully furnished single-family home |
| Basement finishing debris | framing, drywall, and old flooring |
| Small addition demo | framing and finish materials from a room addition |
Suitability
Is the 20 yard the right size for you?
Choose the 20 yard for
- Full roof replacement
- Kitchen or bathroom remodel
- Whole-house or estate cleanout
- Basement or attic renovation
- Multi-trade contractor jobs
- Large deck or fence removal
Pick a different size for
- Small single-room jobs — a 10 or 15 yard is more cost-effective

- Very heavy, dense loads like all-concrete fill — talk to us about weight limits first
Placing a 20 yard container on a Canton-area property
The 20 yard is long enough that placement matters more than it does with our smaller containers. On the newer subdivision streets around Alpharetta, Milton, and Cumming, we'll usually want the full driveway length and a look at any mailbox, low-hanging trees, or curved approach before delivery. In established Marietta and Acworth neighborhoods with shorter or narrower driveways, we sometimes place it partly on the street apron where local rules allow — we'll walk through the options with you when you book.

20 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked
Why is the 20 yard your most popular size?
It's the sweet spot for most renovation, roofing, and cleanout jobs — enough capacity for a real project without paying for space most homeowners won't fill.
How much driveway space does it need?
About 34 feet of clear, level run, plus 10-12 feet of width and 23-25 feet of overhead clearance for our truck to deliver and pick it up.
How much weight is included?
3-4 tons of mixed debris. If your project is heavy on shingles, concrete, or tile, let us know when you book so we can talk through the weight limit.
Can a 20 yard fit in a Milton or Alpharetta subdivision?
In most cases, yes, though newer neighborhoods sometimes have HOA rules on placement and duration — check your covenants and we can help plan around them.
What if I need it picked up early or kept longer?
Call (770) 629-0113 and we'll adjust the schedule to fit your job.
