Why North Georgia Gets Ice, Not Just Snow
Cherokee County and the rest of north Georgia sit in a part of the Southeast that's prone to a specific and nasty kind of winter weather: freezing rain and glaze ice events, typically between December and February. The setup is a layer of below-freezing air trapped near the ground under warmer air aloft, so precipitation falls as rain and freezes on contact with trees, power lines, and roads instead of falling as snow. Why You Should Book Before the Storm, Not After
